Maria Basel
Melancholic harmonies, shimmering loops and sophisticated arrangements form the basis of her sound, which depicts the artist's diverse talents: Maria Basel is a singer, composer, producer and DJ. Born in Ukraine as the daughter of a pianist and a cellist, she has been deeply rooted in the music scene of the Bergisches Land and the Ruhr area for many years as a Wuppertal native.
The constant element of the compositions are piano and Rhodes, a clear reference to the artist's "classical" origins - but Basel draws a differentiated, wide arc on this foundation, from fragile, pensive, natural sounds to powerful, beat-heavy and electronic elements.
Basel processes encounters from her life in her pieces, but leaves a lot of room for interpretation and association by the listeners.
